چکیده

Objective: To evaluate the influence of the surface used for manipulation (paper block and glass slab) on the mechanical properties (flexural strength and elastic modulus) and ion release (F) of two resin modified glass ionomer cements (RMGIC). Methods: Two RMGICs: Vitro Fil LC (DFL) and Riva Light (SDI) were used. The materials were manipulated on two different surfaces: block of paper and glass slab. A 3-point-bending test (Instron 3342) was used to obtain the modulus of elasticity (GPa) and flexural strength (MPa). To measure fluoride release (ppm), cylindrical test specimens were fabricated. The data were submitted to two-way ANOVA and Holm–Sidak test for the contrast among means

A Comparative Study of Color Stability and Fluoride Release from Glass Ionomer Cements Combined with Chlorhexidine

BACKGROUND Restoring carious teeth is one of the major treatment needs of young children. Glass ionomer cement (GIC) systems had become the most important dental restorative and luting materials for use in preschoolers, children and teenagers. Several attempts in developing GIC with antibacterial effects by addition of bactericides, such as chlorhexidine, have been reported. AIM AIM of the st...

Fluoride Release and Recharge from Different Materials Used as Fissure Sealants

OBJECTIVES Fluoride release/recharge properties of fissure sealants are important for their long-term inhibition of caries. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between fluoride release and recharge of pit-and-fissure sealants. METHODS Specimens were prepared from 5 different sealant materials: Fissurit F, a conventional resin; Fuji VII, a glass-ionomer cement (GIC); Fuji II L...

Fluoride release profile of a nanofilled resin-modified glass ionomer cement.

The present study aimed to compare the fluoride (F-) release pattern of a nanofilled resin-modified glass ionomer cement (GIC) (Ketac N100 - KN) with available GICs used in dental practice (resin-modified GIC - Vitremer - V; conventional GIC - Ketac Molar - KM) and a nanofilled resin composite (Filtek Supreme - RC). Discs of each material (n=6) were placed into 4 mL of deionized water in sealed...

Effect of Powder/Liquid Ratio on Fluoride Release of Glass Ionomers

Objective: Evidence shows that the powder/liquid mixing ratio recommended by the manufacturers is often not respected when mixing the glass ionomer (GI) powder and liquid, yielding a GI cement with disproportionate powder/liquid ratio. Considering the confirmed effect of powder/liquid ratio on the GI properties, and more importantly, its fluoride release potential, this study aimed to assess ...
